In the first twelve months of the learner driver mentor program, Volwing has assisted five young people achieve their P plates, all on the first attempt.
This is one of the most significant steps in the lives of these young people.
Five out of five is in part due to the selfless time our mentors have given, to help these young people in obtaining their 120 logbook hours.
It’s difficult enough to find a job, but if you don’t have a driving licence the odds are stacked against you…especially for vulnerable young adults.
Volwing’s Learner Driver Mentor Program gets disadvantaged young adults behind the wheel and on the road to worthwhile careers.
Volwing’s Learner Driver Mentor Program is a partnership. Volwing’s key partner is St Vincent de Paul Society in Bowral. Vinnie knows a lot about vulnerability, but it also knows a lot about dignity and good works. To launch LDMP, Volwing needed a partnership with a local driving school. Highlands Drive Safe, locally owned and operated by Murray, Sue and Chris Tyler, stepped up.
The picture shows Samantha Hubbard from Vinnies, and Sue Tyler from Highlands DriveSafe, with our latest LDMP graduate.
It is the hope of VolWing and the Mentors that this program will assist in some small way to lead to a brighter future for all the young people that come through our Learner Driver Mentor Program. In obtaining a driver’s licence, there is the opportunity of a wider range of career paths.
