Volwing recruits volunteers and refers them to our client organisations in the community. We match skills with opportunities, where appropriate we organise training for volunteers and clients.

Volunteering is a win-win. Good for the community, good for us. Social interaction and participating in activities which are interesting and enjoyable are very important for our physical and mental wellbeing. Volunteering overcomes isolation.

We have a large number of vacancies at the moment for a variety of volunteer roles.

Currently, we have volunteer positions involving areas such as computer tutors, companions, office administrators, gardeners, delivery people, community drivers, retail assistants, maintenance people, cafe assistants, community radio jobs, reading and maths tutors, arts and craft, literacy support and kitchen and food preparation.

If you would like to enquire about volunteering, please call Volwing on 02 4869 4617.

The latest information about Volwing and available volunteer positions is provided on our local community radio Highland FM 107.1 every Monday at 11.30am.

Volwing also is diversifying.

Nearly a year ago, we launched our Learner Driver Mentor Program, to get disadvantaged young adults behind the wheel and on the road to worthwhile careers.

Now Volwing is launching a new program, involving seniors and new information technology. The initiative is called TechKnow, the intention is that younger people will teach older people. The program will provide support for interested older people to develop IT skills so they can stay connected, informed and enjoy a safe online experience. It has been shown that connectedness can reduce isolation.
